Workshop information:

The Wokshop will beginn with the History of The American Slam Movement and Ben Porter Lewis experience in it. This is a timeline dating back to the origins of slam in the mid 1980’s Chicago to present. Ben will share anecdotes and stories of the slam over the years.

Then Wehwalt Koslovsky will focus on the poetry Slam movement in Europe and will introduce the German speaking scene.

Finally, Mr Zurg and Yopo will present “la ligue Slam francaise” :  a national structure which aims to unite the poetry slam movement in France.

BenBen Porter Lewis is a Spoken Word Poet, Writer, Filmmaker and Educator Currently living in Berlin. Over the past fifteen years working in creative and artistic media of Slam/spoken word poetry, film and education. He has been a featured Poet at lollapalooza and worked as a consultant and performing artist in the Beat Poet film, The Source. He has also collaborated with Warner Brothers on their Short Films on DVD Series. A road Poet and documentor for Slam-America a 32-city coast to coast poetry slam tour across the U.S. He was a consultant for HBO Def poetry Jam. Among Bens many Accolades he has received A perfect score at the World Famous Nuyorican Poets Café in NYC. And winner of over fifty poetry slams across North America and Europe.  has also won a Slam at the Historic Chicago Green Mill home of the original Poetry Slam. Ben has also been a six time grand Slam Champion in Denver Colorado, Ithaca, NY, Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Hollywood California the Slam Team which Ben Founded in 1996.

WwaltWehwalt Koslovsky is a Berlin-based poet, writer, eMCee, workshop-facilitator, and organizer of literary events. Wehwalt has founded several national and international touring-ensembles such as “Poetry Punch Bunch” (2000), Poesie United (2003), and is currently a member of the Spoken Word-duo “k.u.k.” (2007). He is also Slammaster and eMCee of the Rosi’Slam in Berlin-Friedrichshain.
Furthermore, Wehwalt teaches creative writing and text-performance at the University of Düsseldorf and facilitates writing and performingworkshops at several schools in Germany and Switzerland.
